Could this one little thing, be holding your child back? At Elmira Family Chiropractic we are constantly putting out fires and we prefer to prevent them in the first place…
Studies have shown that 80-90% percent of children undergo spinal trauma during the birthing process. This most often occurs in the upper cervical region. Why? The average pulling force of a doctors hands (or forceps/vacuum) is between 50-120 pounds/square inch (PSI). Do you know how much air pressure you put in your cars tires? It may sound like a lot less in comparison and it is, a mere 32-35 PSI! Not only will this spinal and neurological imbalance become part of a child’s structure as they develop, but it may last a lifetime. That’s if the effects aren’t noticed immediately, and they often aren’t.
Even a small amount of interference in the neurological system could be holding your child back. An impaired nerve system can reduce immune function, concentration, recovery from illness and injury; it can lessen athletic performance and digestive function. It can even alter behaviour.
While it is true that people often see a chiropractor to help them recover from physical health problems, that is not the purpose of chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments are aimed at correcting misalignments that compromise neurological integrity. This is a requirement for health and vital for kids to thrive!
Some may be concerned about the forcefulness of an adjustment for a growing child. That would be a legitimate concern if all people received the same adjustment. Thankfully, they do not. Each person is adjusted according to their age and size.
If we understand that health means 100% function, not merely being symptom-free, then the function of the nerve and spinal system needs to addressed.
Who has more potential to fulfill and more to benefit from chiropractic care than our kids?
Now you may be asking, what does this have to do with putting out fires?
Its easier to prevent a fire in your home, then to rebuild after all the damage. The same goes for the human body. We recommend children have a neurospinal assessment as soon as possible to prevent conditions that might not show up until their adult years. Prevention is key.
So, we have built a children’s adjusting table in the shape of a Fire Engine that is now in the office! Kids absolutely love it and so do we!
Come by today and check it out!
REMEMBER – Who has more potential to fulfill and more to benefit from a healthy nervous system than our kids? Don’t hold your kids back!
